In Brazil, Lucinete is a female given name that can be interpreted as “she who brings light.” Over time, the name came to symbolize a quiet presence, a community shaped by the individual lights of the people who make it up.

Rather than merely documenting a social condition, Lucinete seeks to portray the everyday lives of the people encountered. It is a simple narrative, woven from the small gestures, affections, hopes, and the fragilities that make up the life of a community.
It is a reflection on growing up, absence, and the forms of resistance that emerge in everyday life.

This fanzine is part of the “And Other Chapters” series.
“And Other Chapters” is a series of Cesura Publish dedicated to showcasing the work of Cesura’s mentees through limited-edition experimental publications. It seeks to include an array of embryonic projects reflecting the various research paths undertaken by the group of emerging photographers growing under the supervision of Cesura’s members, an ongoing exchange central to the creative fabric of Cesura’s expanding factory.
