by Marco P. Valli Luca Santese

Boys Boys Boys gets published on the current Italian government’s election day. The volume collects a sequence of satirical portraits of politicians during the election’s race. Two months later Conte’s Government is born, stemming from an alliance between the two major political forces, Lega and Five Star Movement (M5S). Shortly after, Boys Boys Boys II is published in black and white as an ironic reference to the negative connotation of such occurrence. The third volume Popolopopolo is about citizens celebrating the birth of the Third Republic. Santese and Valli then reach Pontida where the main Lega rally has been held annually since 1990. The documentation is collected in Lega Nord Party, the fourth volume of the series. The fifth and last volume of the project, Movimento Lento, deals with Five Star Movement’s activists and it is shot during various party’s celebrations and rallies.

The aim of the entire operation is to document the most significant phenomena and events that are characterising the country’s political present through independent publications and photographic exhibitions. The authors’ commitment is to continue to produce constant authorial documentation that is not limited solely to recording events but offers a constant critical-satirical vision of them.
