One day, a fire showed up and changed everything. Like the cut-up flowers that she places everywhere she goes, Marta Zdulska has no roots. Fire is My Favorite Color is a form of visual questioning that arose from this dislocated mood, and that parallels her wandering from place to place.
Marta was the Artist in Residence of Cesura Publish’s 2017 project “Residence in the Hills”. The goal of the residency was to promote the work of emerging talents with a limited-edition publication of the material developed during the four-week experience. Each phase of the project was developed through mutual decisions and the technical support of our team. With Marta we worked with mixed media – collages and photos – in order to complete the narrative provided by the photos and evoke the full intensity of her experience.
